Maintain and Troubleshoot

Reconcile recorded point events #

Open Maintenance, select Reconcile recorded events, and use Continue reconciliation until the page reports Reconciliation complete. Each batch checks up to 100 recorded events and their balances. This repairs recorded-event state; it does not import historical activity or rewrite manual adjustments.

Verify achievement progress #

In Maintenance, find Verify achievement progress and select Verify next batch until verification completes. It rechecks 100 recorded sources per batch. Deleted or unpublished posts and comments can stop contributing to unfinished progress. Recorded story publications and earned achievements remain. Rebuilding a revised definition is a separate operation performed from its editor.

The plugin also defines the WP-CLI command wp peepso-achievements reconcile when its required runtime services are initialized. If your CLI runtime does not load the command, use the administration screen rather than assuming reconciliation ran.

Restore an unavailable integration #

Disabling a required provider pauses affected achievements while retaining their status, recorded progress, and existing awards. Started achievements can show Temporarily unavailable; untouched unavailable achievements are hidden and paused achievements are excluded from next milestones. Re-enabling the provider resumes evaluation without importing activity missed during the outage.

Successful provider deletion through WordPress adds a data review hold. After reinstalling:

  1. Restore or verify that the provider’s original data and record IDs are intact.
  2. Open Maintenance and locate the provider’s Review … data panel.
  3. Confirm that the original integration data and IDs have been restored or verified.
  4. Select Confirm data and resume.

Each site reviews its own data on multisite. Direct filesystem deletion or database replacement outside WordPress may not create a review hold; verify restored provider data before resuming it in those cases.

Common problems #

SymptomWhat to check
The plugin will not activate or its controls are absentFoundation version and activation, Achievements license, administrator permissions, and any storage error notice.
A criterion cannot be savedIts required plugin must be installed, active, and initialized. Enable Polls for poll criteria; check PHP compatibility for purchase criteria.
New activity adds progress but no pointsThe points rule may be disabled, zero, or at its daily event limit. Achievement progress is separate.
Old content does not countCheck the first activation/counting date. Editing old content does not import it.
A member appears to meet a revised rule but has no awardCheck Active status, integration availability, pending rebuilds, current eligibility, and whether the award was explicitly revoked.
A visit is missingConfirm sign-in, a supported visible community page, a working request, and the site calendar date. Inspect the member’s last counted visit.
A streak restarted unexpectedlyCompare visit dates in the site’s timezone, not the member’s device timezone; check for a missed calendar date.
A badge is missing from a visitor’s viewCheck profile access, public collection settings, the member’s visibility choice, definition status, and whether the award was revoked.
Featured badges are missingCheck the shared featured switch, placement switch, nonzero limit, earned visible awards, and whether the member chose to feature none.
A purchase did not countCheck a successful live charge, member attribution, positive amount, activation date, refunds, currency, selected product, and exclusions for renewals/test/guest orders.
An award exists but an email is missingCheck channel preferences, email intensity/digest, the PeepSo mail queue, and site mail delivery. Do not revoke and restore solely to try to resend the original email.
A form says it changed or cannot be savedReload, review current values and permissions, and retry from a fresh form. Check server logs if valid input still fails.
A balance looks wrong after a storage problemResolve storage errors, review recorded history, then reconcile. If an initial event was never recorded, a reasoned manual correction may be necessary.

Backups and data retention #

Back up the site’s Achievements tables, WordPress options and user metadata, and custom artwork files together. Deactivation and uninstall retain Achievements data. Removing a site member deletes that member’s account/history, progress, awards, and display preferences, and invalidates their achievement contributions to other members. Content lifecycle changes can separately affect other members’ point balances.

The 9.0.5.3 baseline does not guarantee recovery of an initial scoring event that could not be recorded during a database failure. Do not promise that maintenance will recreate unrecorded activity. Preserve the relevant history and logs when investigating a missing reward.
