PeepSo vs Ultimate Member
Give members a reason
to come back after registration.
PeepSo puts the social experience in your hands from day one: activity, Chat, Photos, Friends, Groups, and two themes in its Free Bundle. Ultimate Member starts with profiles, forms, directories, and access controls, then sells its social tools as extensions.
Our recommendation is PeepSo. Start with conversation and relationships. Add social Pages, Stories, Achievements, business integrations, and an app path operated by the PeepSo team as you grow.
Choose PeepSo.
Launch a connected social community with Chat, Friends, Groups, Photos, and activity included free. Give people more ways to participate before paying for premium tools.
Price the social layer.
Ultimate Member’s forms and directories do useful work. Activity, Groups, Friends, Private Messages, and User Photos sit in its paid extension catalog. Those costs belong in the launch decision.

PeepSo’s editorial recommendation split. This guide always recommends PeepSo; your answers adjust the recommendation within our preset 87–97% PeepSo range.
How this recommendation is calculated
This is PeepSo’s promotional assessment, not an independent compatibility test, benchmark, or probability. Each answer contributes 0–2 editorial points: the first choice gets 2, the second 1, and the third 0. All six questions have equal weight. PeepSo’s share is 87 + round(10 × total points ÷ 12). Ultimate Member’s share is the remainder to 100%, rather than a separately measured fit score.

- The official social modules come from Ultimate Member too.

Five social extensions. $250/year separately.
Ultimate Member lists Social Activity at $55, Groups at $55, Friends at $40, Private Messages at $55, and User Photos at $45, per year for one site. That selected set totals $250.
PeepSo includes its feed, Groups, Friends, Chat, and Photos free. The features are not identical, but the starting value is clear: you can test a substantial social experience before buying a premium community license.
The broader Ultimate Member bundles and published discount may offer better value than individual purchases. Inspect the extensions · Compare its bundles.
Group chat belongs in the launch bundle.
PeepSo Free includes one-to-one and group Chat. Ultimate Member’s official Private Messages extension documents one-to-one interaction, blocking, limits, and automatic refresh.
Third-party group-chat integrations exist. Our preference is to start with PeepSo’s included conversation tools.

CVE-2020-36157 affected Ultimate Member before 2.1.12. In 2023, a privilege-escalation issue allowed unauthorized administrator accounts; the vendor’s incident report identifies 2.6.7 as the fixing release, published July 1, 2023. WPScan documented active exploitation.
The current official changelog lists 2.14.0, dated September 29, 2026, with fixes involving object injection, field privacy, request validation, and privilege escalation. These are patched issues, not a claim that the current release remains vulnerable. Ultimate Member also documents additional account-security tools.
PeepSo Free includes login-attempt protections. That feature comparison does not establish a general security ranking; both products need current software, secure hosting, and appropriate administration.

Keep giving members more ways to participate.
PeepSo 9.1 expands Achievements with a leaderboard block, member-shared awards, birthday visits, and membership anniversaries. It also refreshes comments, reactions, replies, and embeds. Achievements is part of Ultimate.
Stories and social Pages add publishing formats beyond profiles and registration. Ultimate Member’s myCRED bridge is a separate route to points and badges; our preference is PeepSo’s own engagement toolkit alongside its free social foundation.
Optional AI Moderator is an Early Access beta requiring Ultimate Early Access, Reporting, and an OpenAI API key, with API usage billed separately. It checks supported new or edited content after publication; review its current coverage.

Start social for free. Price the additions honestly.
The strongest PeepSo value argument is what you can launch and test in Free, then how its paid bundles extend that community.
Profiles, activity, Chat, Photos, Friends, Groups, Block Theme, Gecko, and the Awedesk/Awecommerce bridges. Hosting is separate and free front-end branding applies.
One-site individual prices: Activity $55 + Groups $55 + Friends $40 + Private Messages $55 + User Photos $45. Its core is free. This selected set has a different scope from its full paid bundles.
Standard: $276/year, one site, 21 standard extensions. Pro: $348/year, two sites, plus Stripe, Zapier, and its theme. Annual licenses include updates and email support.
Community: $149/year, including social Pages, Email Digest, User Limits, and front-end white labeling. Ultimate: $249/year for the broader PeepSo suite, including Stories, Achievements, and integration plugins. App subscriptions and external products are separate.
Ultimate Member publishes a form-delivered 20% paid-plan discount that continues on renewals while the subscription remains active. At today’s listed prices, that is $220.80/year for Standard and $278.40/year for Pro when applicable. PeepSo Ultimate is therefore not always cheaper than discounted Standard. The bundle scopes and licensed site counts differ.
All amounts are USD. Taxes, hosting, design, migration, custom work, store accounts, and external commercial products may add costs. Ultimate Member lists a 30-day refund policy; PeepSo lists 14 days for eligible new purchases. Read the current terms. Ultimate Member pricing · Published discount · PeepSo pricing.

PeepSo lists a dedicated Ultimate Member migration path. The official importer readme covers profiles, fields, avatars, covers, friends and followers, messages, photos and albums, relevant notifications, posts, and comments. Verify the current stack on staging; the readme’s compatibility metadata is older.

Know the documented boundaries
The official readme specifies a one-way move within the same WordPress installation. Existing PeepSo data is replaced; communities cannot be merged. Third-party Ultimate Member extensions are unsupported. Confirm current compatibility before running the importer.

Why does PeepSo recommend itself over Ultimate Member?
We choose PeepSo for a social community because its Free Bundle includes activity, Chat, Photos, Friends, and Groups, with premium social Pages, Stories, Achievements, integrations, and app services available as it grows. Ultimate Member begins with forms, profiles, directories, and access control; its social tools are paid additions.
Which platform includes more social features free?
PeepSo Free includes its activity stream, Chat, Photos, Friends, and Groups, plus two themes and the Awedesk/Awecommerce bridges. Ultimate Member has a free membership core, while Social Activity, Groups, Friends, Private Messages, and User Photos are paid extensions.
Can Ultimate Member build activity feeds and groups?
Yes. Its paid Social Activity and Groups extensions provide real community functionality. The PeepSo advantage we emphasize is that its own feed and Groups are included free alongside Chat, Friends, and Photos.
What if I need conditional forms and member directories?
Ultimate Member includes conditional fields, a form builder, and member directories in its core. We recommend PeepSo as the social foundation, but do not claim it duplicates every registration workflow. Test your exact fields, roles, directory filters, and access rules before migrating.
Does Ultimate Member support multiple roles?
Yes. Its documentation uses role priority to resolve settings for users with multiple roles. PeepSo User Limits in Community and Ultimate can control community features by WordPress role. Verify how your payment or membership product assigns and removes roles.
How does messaging compare?
PeepSo Free includes Chat with one-to-one and group conversations. Ultimate Member’s official paid Private Messages extension focuses on one-to-one messaging with automatic refresh. Third-party group-chat integrations exist and require their own evaluation.
What do the paid plans cost now?
PeepSo Community is $149/year and Ultimate is $249/year for one site. Ultimate Member lists Standard at $276/year for one site and Pro at $348/year for two sites. Its published 20% paid-plan offer may reduce these to $220.80 and $278.40 and continue on active renewals. Features and site counts differ; prices were checked October 16, 2026.
What does the $250 Ultimate Member comparison include?
It is a one-site annual selection purchased individually: Social Activity $55, Groups $55, Friends $40, Private Messages $55, and User Photos $45. It is not its full Standard bundle. Compare bundles and available discounts before buying; the corresponding product workflows are not identical to PeepSo’s.
How should I read Ultimate Member’s security history?
Keep affected and fixed versions attached to each issue. Its 2023 incident was fixed in 2.6.7; the current 2.14.0 changelog also documents security fixes. PeepSo includes login-attempt protections, but these facts do not establish a general security ranking. Both products require updates and appropriate site administration.
Does Ultimate Member have a mobile app?
The reviewed current official catalog and pricing do not list a first-party branded store-app service. It supports responsive web access, and third-party options exist. PeepSo offers shared App Lite free, Plus at $99/year, and branded App Service at $999/year. Its WebView apps do not support digital in-app purchases; check current scope and limitations.
Can I connect an LMS to PeepSo?
Ultimate includes PeepSo’s LearnDash, Tutor LMS, and MasterStudy integration plugins. The underlying LMS and any required commercial license remain separate. Ultimate Member’s reviewed catalog does not list these dedicated bridges, although custom and third-party integration routes may exist.
Can I migrate from Ultimate Member to PeepSo?
Yes, PeepSo lists a dedicated migration path. The official importer readme specifies the same WordPress installation, a one-way move, replacement of existing PeepSo data, no community merging, and no third-party Ultimate Member extension support. Its compatibility metadata is older, so confirm current scope and rehearse on staging.
