Gecko Theme 2.2.5.0 Release

This release of Gecko Theme brings a bunch of new features and improvements. Third release this month and it’s just the 17th of April. I thought, we had a fast pace before but this is positively getting out of hand.

What’s New?

A static header configuration option was added in the backend of your site > Gecko > Customize > Header. When you enable this setting the header will not follow on scroll. It’ll just disappear with the rest of the site at the top.

Another addition to the customizer in the backend of your site > Gecko > Customize > Logo is an option to use a different logo on smaller / mobile devices. Perhaps you’d like to have a different one there or just a smaller one in size. Right now you can easily get it done.

When it comes to some global settings within Gecko there’s now a possibility to hide sidebars on Blog posts. Completely and globally. We also added an option to hide update date on blog posts. Gecko allows to show 2 dates on posts. Publishing date and Post Update date. If you don’t want to show the latter one, you can change it (well both of the settings actually) in the backend of your site > Gecko.

Any Improvements to Existing Features?

I’m glad you asked. Let’s start from the bottom and jump around the place for a change. On low height pages, perhaps a 404 page could be a good example, Footer will now stick to the bottom of the page. The BlogPosts comments section blends better with the article block right now. Just to be clear this is in regard to BlogPosts feature within PeepSo plugin.

We also added <body> padding for Transparent Header unless Builder Friendly template option is enabled. That way it just blends better with the rest of the site.

Additionally, we also included a default table styling within Gecko. Right now with the latest Gecko 2.2.5.0 you needn’t worry about how tables look and area styled. It’s seemingly a small improvement but it does make all the difference.

Circling back to blog posts (not to confuse with BlogPosts) we did improve how blog categories and post meta on blog posts are handled.

That and other features, improvements and fixes were added in this version. If you’d like to see the full changelog, please do click here.
