New Release: PeepSo and Gecko 2.8.0.2

Small improvements around the new display name styles.

What’s new?

PeepSo 2.8.0.0 introduced new display name styles, and a small bug crept into that version. Even if user preferred to display their username, the notification boxes would still use their real first name. This regression was fixed in this release.

We have further improved the user-facing “display my name as” interface, by making the options more verbose and providing some information about what might happen if the user does not provide a real name.

More verbose UI for “display my name as”

Before [PeepSo](https://PeepSo.com) I was a contractor and have helped build successful businesses around the world, including USA, UK, Germany, Indonesia, and Malaysia. A couple of years leading up to founding PeepSo, I was involved with JomSocial โ€“ a social networking extension for Joomla. Stepping up from the role of a contractor to a business owner, I became [PeepSo](https://PeepSo.com) founder and Chief Technology Officer. I strive to build beautiful, fast, and functional software that **empowers users to build their own digital tribes with full autonomy and freedom** often not available on mainstream social networking media. In 2023 we spun off a new company to launch [Awedesk](https://awedesk.com) – a complete ticket-based client support solution for WordPress. I also created [ListoWP](https://LIstoWP.com), a modern to-do plugin for WordPress which is now evolving into a project management tool.

Thanks Matt. It may be that I didn’t read something – but just thought I’d mention that when I updated to PeepSo 2.8.0.2 – all the other plugins were deactivated, so I had to reactivate them once the update was complete. Thought I’d mention in case someone recklessly updates and doesn’t check all was working. All good though.

@peepso_user_20221(Vas George) it’s not normal, unless you completely deactivated PeepSo Foundation

It’s not a big deal Matt, but fyi I simply updated. I didn’t deactivate anything first. Let’s see if anyone else experienced it I wonder if us using something like Sucuri may have an effect?
