The first (and last) release of February was primarily focused on delivering the stable Gecko Theme version. Nevertheless, PeepSo 2.2.0 delivers a few improvements to the plugins as well.
Member Listing Improvements
The Administrator can now decide to hide all users from the member listings until something is searched. This way the member listing acts more like a member search engine. Users can now be also found by their registered e-mail address – if an exact match is found. Both features are disabled by default and can be found and enabled in the backend > PeepSo > Configuration > Appearance.
Other Improvements
We improved the way Facebook embeds are rendered in PeepSo. The automated BlogPosts stream items are now removed when the parent blog post is unpublished or deleted. Unfortunately, this does not work backwards as PeepSo needs the ‘trigger’ to make it happen. If you still have issues with those undeletable posts, they need to be manually removed from the database. If you’re not sure how to do it yourself, please open a support ticket and our developers can do it for you. We also added a few minor fixes, the full list can be found here.
Future – Post Straight to Group
This upcoming feature is currently tested in a closed beta. When posting on the main stream, users will be able to select a group they belong to to send the post there immediately. This will greatly simplify the process of posting inside groups.
Future – Server Sent Events
The work on delivering server pushed notifications (opposed to repetitive querying which can stress the server on very big communities) in late 2018. We tried PHP driven Server Sent Events, but that did not prove to be a reasonable path. We are now implementing the same feature based on Node.js – we expect to begin closed beta tests in March and release in April.
