PeepSo 1.6.0 comes packed with new features and improvements. In my previous blog posts I told you about the PeepSo core improvements, the new ProfileSo plugin and about the six new widgets that make your community even more engaging.
In this post I’ll tell you about the improvements and new features that we’ve added to some of our existing plugins and about upcoming new plugins.
PicSo
Photo Albums
We’d been toying with the idea of adding Albums to PeepSo and I’m glad to say that the first stage of that operation is behind us. If you’ve already upgraded to PeepSo 1.6.0, you’ve already been enjoying them. With this release we’ve redone the photos page in user profiles and added Core Albums.
Those albums are:
- Stream Photos
- Profile Pictures
- Profile Covers
While Stream Photos aren’t new, the Profile Pictures and Profile Covers are all-new and shiny. If a user wants to change an avatar or profile cover, the albums let them review every avatar and profile cover they’ve ever added. It’s a nice history.
Each album also has its own navigation so that members can browse all the photos in an album without having to close the modal window.
We’re still working on custom created albums. It’s a big topic so look out for it in a future release.
Set A Profile Avatar Or Cover Photo From Photo View
We added ‘Options’ in modals when members view their own photos. Right from that modal, they can set an image as either their profile avatar or their profile cover.
Show New Avatar And Cover Photos On Stream
Another new setting lets admins generate a post on the community stream when a user changes their avatar or profile cover. It’s a nice touch that turns an image change into a community event. Their friends can Like and Comment on the picture.
Adding Photos To Comments
And with this version, users can also add a photo to a comment! The photos are assigned to the person who added them and they only appear in the comments, not in user profiles or photos or any of the photo-related widgets.
Messages and Chat
Read Status On Messages
Ever wondered whether someone read the message that you sent to their inbox or in Chat? We’ve got you covered! This feature lets users add ‘Send Read Receipt’ notifications to conversations. Users can choose not to send those read receipts if they’d prefer not to.
Upcoming New Plugins
PeepSo – PMP Integration
PMP (Paid Membership Pro) is a very popular membership plugin for WordPress. It lets you create membership levels and restrict pages to paying members. A lot of people have asked for an integration with PeepSo and I am happy to say that we are almost ready to release this integration plugin. Look out for it soon.
PeepSo Email Digest
The PeepSo Email Digest uses the most engaging content to bring people back to your community. It sends them an email with the latest and most popular posts on your community.
This plugin is almost ready. I’ll make a special announcement as soon as it’s released.
