New Release: 7.0.3.0

We are thrilled to announce the release of PeepSo 7.0.3.0! This update brings exciting new features, improvements, and crucial fixes to enhance your community-building experience. Let’s dive into what’s new and improved!

Messages Redesign

With this release, the chat and messaging system has undergone a significant redesign, bringing a refreshed look for a better user experience. The interface has been refined for clarity, including the removal of unnecessary elements like the “and” in single conversation displays. This comes particularly handy within the mobile apps many of you already have.

Anonymity

As an extension to Anonymous Posts added within last releases, with this one we add Anonymous Comments as well as Anonymous Posts within Groups. You and your community can now fully ‘cloak’ themselves with a cape of anonymity these features provide.

Markdown

The expanded Markdown support enhances formatting options. Right now markdown supports: Headers, text formatting: bold, italic, strikethrough. Also, sharing code inline as well as code blocks. Ordered and unordered lists. You can also do links and share images. Then there’s tables as well as checkboxes. A full list with examples can be seen in my post here. How to format using markdown is shown in the backend > PeepSo > Configuration > Markdown. You can also read about it here.

Other Improvements and Fixes

The new postbox styling has been improved to seamlessly integrate with Elementor and other themes. Additionally, the upload UI now triggers instantly when an uploadable post type is selected.

Navigation has also been enhanced with an improved “Back to Community” button behavior. Developers will appreciate the introduction of clearing Mayfly functionality in PeepSo dev tools.

OpenGraph improvements enhance link previews, making shared content more visually appealing. Several issues related to pages have been resolved, including incorrect avatars on posts and comments, broken links when SEO-friendly URLs are enabled, and problems with deleting photo albums.

Video functionality has been expanded with support for the 3GPP extension, ensuring greater compatibility with various media formats. WP Delicious compatibility has also been added, offering seamless integration for users who rely on this plugin.

Security and stability remain a top priority in this release. Users will now be logged out from all devices when changing their password or username, enhancing account security. The ability to allow only selected domains on registration adds further control over who can join the community.

Several bug fixes and UI improvements have been implemented, including resolving issues with special characters in PeepSo names, ensuring the post backgrounds character counter displays the correct number, and fixing the notification popup for a more reliable user experience. The Markdown blockquote render issue on mobile devices has also been addressed, ensuring proper formatting across platforms.

The Gecko theme has received updates as well, particularly in resolving Elementor header and footer support issues that previously interfered with custom page templates. This ensures a smoother and more consistent integration with Elementor’s custom pages.
