Welcome to an exciting update unveiling an array of new features and enhancements crafted to enrich your experience on the PeepSo platform. We’re delighted to introduce the sleek new Photos Page, currently in its BETA phase, alongside convenient and streamlined registration options. With the ability to completely remove the password field during registration, this release caters to a diverse range of user preferences. Let’s explore further to discover the myriad benefits these updates bring to you.
Streamlined Registration
Let’s begin with the exciting new option to completely remove the password field from the registration process. Although the password remains a mandatory field as required by WordPress, we’ve devised a workaround. Now, when users receive the email to verify their account, the password will be sent to them along with it. You can access this new option in your WordPress Admin by navigating to PeepSo -> Configuration -> Accounts & Security, located under the Registration panel.
Once this option is enabled, several changes will occur:
- The password field will be completely removed from the registration page, streamlining the user experience and simplifying the registration process on your website. This enhancement is crucial for attracting more users to your site. Additionally, if you choose to remove the username field as well, users will only need to enter their email to register.
- The option to verify email remains enabled and cannot be disabled. This is essential to ensure that users can receive the new password via the provided email address.
- By default, this option remains disabled on both new and existing sites to prevent any disruption to the existing registration flow. If you wish to utilize this feature, you must manually enable it in your site settings.
New Photos Page
Introducing a brand new page designed to showcase all community photos accessible to the currently logged-in user. This feature operates similarly to the latest photos widget but is presented as a distinct page or WordPress block.
Upon updating to version 6.3.9.0 and utilizing the Photos plugin, you may encounter a notification at the top of your WordPress Admin screen indicating that PeepSo cannot locate all the necessary pages for normal functionality. There’s no need to panic. Simply navigate to your pages section and create the new page using either the PeepSo Photos block or by employing the peepso_photos shortcode. We recommend utilizing a block, as blocks are becoming the standard in WordPress, and shortcodes are gradually being phased out.
Once you’ve created the page, you can simply click on the notice to review PeepSo navigation settings. Alternatively, navigate to WordPress Admin -> PeepSo -> Configuration -> Navigation & Filters, and then assign the new page accordingly.
