PeepSo 6.2.1.0 is a maintenance release that brings one new feature improvement for “Use PeepSo names everywhere” option, and also addresses WP Events Manager and TutorLMS conflicts while editing Events.
Use PeepSo Names Everywhere
Previously, this feature relied on native WordPress filters to replace user display names from third-party plugins into PeepSo display names – as long as the third-party in question uses proper filters in line with WordPress Best Practices and Coding Standards. In other words, if the third-party developer follows this guide while coding their plugin, all you had to do as a user was to enable this option, and PeepSo display names would automagically appear instead of whatever display name was used in said third-party plugin.
That is all fine and well in theory; however, the reality can be different, because not every developer will follow these standards and best practices, and this renders our option to hook on the native WP filter practically useless in that case. It can also cause confusion, because in PeepSo you’ll have one display name style, and in that third-party plugin you might end up with something completely different.
With PeepSo 6.2.1.0, the feature “Use PeepSo names everywhere” in PeepSo Configuration – Appearance is now a dropdown with options to completely disable this feature, use standard WP filter method we’ve been using all these years, or enable aggressive mode which will try to replace display names even if they are not made with native WP filters. This is not a bulletproof solution, and it may not catch all display names for every third-party plugin that is not coded with best WordPress practices in mind, but it should still catch plenty of them.
What Else is New?
Some users who use both WP Events Manager and TutorLMS at the same time have reported that they can’t edit events when our integrations are enabled, so we fixed that. We also fixed the issue with arrow navigation for photos. For the full list of changes, take a look at our changelog.
