Bugfix Release: 5.3.1.0

This is the maintenance release that brings some internal fixes into the recently published File Uploads plugin and addresses the issue with registration when using blocked domains. It also includes a few Gecko Theme improvements.

File Uploads

Although recently released, File Uploads was not without minor problems. It turns out that validation script for this plugin refused to give any visual cues to users, and even refused to work properly in some instances.

The issue manifested itself in a few different ways, the most notable being the ability to upload bigger files than the allowed limit, or not being able to set 0 as a value when it is obviously an option. The file would still try to upload, but there would be no visual cues to why the upload failed, leaving the user completely in the dark.

This release fixes all the file validation issues, and it shows why the upload had failed and how to correct it.

Other Improvements

We’ve fixed the problematic issue which was preventing users to register on the site if there is a blank line on the list of blocked domains. We’ve also added some improvements to Gecko Theme, such as better handling of version mismatch notice when you’re using a child theme, or adding the stream attachment background.

My journey with Open Source had taken me across the globe to Bali, Indonesia, where I had spent several years working & evolving with the base PeepSo Team. I was involved with planning and development of very early versions of PeepSo and helped pushing the product forward. Although I tend to engage full workaholic mode, I am essentially a laid back person.
