New Release: PeepSo & Gecko 3.3.0.0 – Dokan Integration!

Introducing the Dokan integration and full compatibility with WordPress 5.7, PHP 8 & JQuery 3.

Dokan Multivendor

The PeepSo WooCommerce integration gains support for Dokan Multivendor in PeepSo 3.3.0.0. It’s the second integration (after WooCommerce Product Vendors) which lets you run a marketplace where your own users sell products.

The first iteration of the integration simply introduces a new profile tab for users who are Dokan Vendors, enabling a marketplace listing right in the profiles. Along with the pre-existing WooCommerce integration features like: posting to stream upon purchase, posting to stream after leaving a review, integrating WooCommerce orders / addresses tabs into PeepSo profiles, it is a good start for a well rounded multivendor marketplace experience.

This integration works both with the free and paid versions of Dokan. The Gecko theme has also been improved in this release, to better support Dokan interface in general.

Custom comment limit for pinned posts

Having pinned posts with many comments attached to the top of the stream can become a nuisance, as the comments might take a lot of valuable “above the fold” space. Based on a suggestion from a few users, we introduced a custom comment limit for the pinned posts. This way you can limit the amount of comments displayed under the pinned posts, to save space at the top of the stream.

WordPress 5.7, PHP 8 and JQuery 3

At the time of writing this article, WordPress 5.7 is expected in the next 24 hours. As usual, our team has tested PeepSo and Gecko thoroughly against the Beta and Release Candidate versions to ensure full compatibility long before the WordPress release.

It’s especially important to note, WordPress 5.7 permanently upgraded the JQuery version to 3.x which might break many plugins and themes, if their developers did not pay close attention to the WordPress development schedule.

PeepSo and Gecko 3.3.0.0 are also fully PHP 8 compatible, but because of how WordPress handled the topic we will only be able to render support and bug fixes for PHP 8 if you are on WordPress 5.7 or newer.

If you wish to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress and/or PHP we strongly encourage you to use a staging copy of your website first, to find out if any third parties have issues with WP 5.7 / JQuery 3 / PHP8. Like previously said, PeepSo and WordPress are ready, but the same can’t always be said about other developers and it might be better to test everything before going live.
